Description:

The IS220PTURH1A is a component from General Electric designed for use in their Mark VIe control system, one of the final iterations of GE's Speedtronic systems for managing gas and steam turbines.

The IS220PTURH1A is a Primary Turbine Specific Trip pack that serves as an electrical interface between a turbine control terminal board and up to two Ethernet networks. It features a DC-62 pin connector for connecting to the terminal board. The component has a casing with ventilation openings and includes multiple LED indicators on the front, though its infrared (IR) port is not utilized in this version. Inside, it houses a processor board, a turbine control board, and an analog acquisition auxiliary board. The processor board includes two 10/100 Ethernet ports, flash memory, RAM, a read-only chip for identification, an internal temperature sensor, and a reset circuit. It mounts onto the TTURH1C terminal board and uses a Euro-style terminal block, which is commonly used across GE’s Mark Series products.

The IS220PTURH1A supports auto-reconfiguration, allowing it to automatically download updates from the controller to the I/O pack. This includes updates to baseload, bootload, firmware, and parameters. Auto-reconfiguration must be enabled through the Component Editor in the Toolbox ST application for this feature to function. The device also interfaces with four passive, magnetic speed inputs, capable of detecting turning gear speeds as low as 2 RPM to indicate if the turbine has stopped. The median speed signal is used for speed control and primary overspeed trip signals.
