Description:

The IS200JPDSG1A is a 28 V Power Distribution Board manufactured by General Electric as part of the Mark VIe Series, which is used in distributed control systems. This board supplies 28 V DC power from external AC/DC or DC/DC converters to the control system and integrates feedback from the PPDA I/O pack into the Power Distribution Management (PDM) system.

The JPDS board can connect to the JPDB, JPDF, and JPDE feedback signal P1/P2 connections to form a PPDA I/O pack. It is compatible with the DC-62 connector used on the JPDS.

The board is designed for easy installation into a metal holder that mounts onto a vertical DIN rail, often alongside other power distribution boards. Alternatively, it can be equipped with a custom metal holder for direct mounting.

The board includes a 50-pin diagnostic connector located on both the top and bottom sections. Grounding is achieved through the sheet metal bracket, which connects to the system’s functional earth (FE) or back base.

The JPDS board distributes power to JR, JS, and JT connectors from power cables. When accommodating a PPDA I/O pack, the JPDS should be mounted so that the indicator lights on the pack are clearly visible. If using two JPDS boards, position them to allow easy access to terminal board connections. The exact placement of the JPDS within a panel is flexible.
Connectors P1 and P2 are crucial for feedback signal transmission: P1 sends feedback signals to a board with a PPDA I/O pack, while P2 receives feedback from other power distribution boards and routes it to P1 for the PPDA. Careful routing of the feedback cable from JPDS P2 to other power distribution boards is important.

Internally, the JPDS board can support either three independent 28 V DC power buses or combine them into a single internal bus. Each bus can handle up to 25 A, with a common ground rated for 75 A. This setup allows for separate power supplies for R, S, and T controllers and their I/O, so a failure in one supply affects only one controller and its associated I/O.
The board includes a dedicated 28 V diode-OR power output for the PPDA I/O pack to ensure consistent power feedback even if a channel power source fails. Alternatively, a jumper configuration between the R, S, and T 28 V bus connection screws on TB1 and TB2 can be used to create a single, reliable 28 V power source.
Additionally, screw terminals can be used to connect the power buses from two adjacent JPDS boards, allowing for features like Duplex or TMR applications, increased JPDP outputs, and supply redundancy for separated R, S, and T power channels with dual input power supplies for each bus.
In some cases, a battery bus may be used as a backup power source. When using a grounded battery system as an input, additional external diodes are required to isolate the battery from the internal bus.

The JPDS board transfers 28 V DC power from the selected sources to the JPDP boards (which power the I/O packs) and control racks. It uses JR, JS, and JT connectors to provide the 28 V power input.
JR, JS, and JT are three 28 V power input connectors featuring two positive and three negative connections. The board also includes three power supply health inputs, with two dry contact inputs per power source for diagnostic purposes.
The J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, and J6 six-pin connections supply outputs to JPDP cards (3x2 Mate-N-Lok), matching the pin assignments of JPDP exactly. The JPDS can connect directly to up to six JPDL boards.
Each of the three outputs—JAR, JAS, and JAT—includes a common-mode choke for noise reduction and a positive temperature coefficient fuse for current limiting.
The internal 28 V bus is accessible through screw terminals on TB1 and TB2, with a maximum continuous current capacity of 35 A for R, S, and T terminals. Boards can be interconnected using these terminals, and a 75 A screw terminal is specified for grounding.
The PPDA power diagnostic I/O pack connects via a DC-62 connector, allowing the PPDA to monitor the JPDS as well as up to five additional power distribution boards.
