FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
The IS410STCIS2A is a Compact Contact Input Terminal Board, engineered and produced by General Electric as part of the Mark VIe Series, specifically for use in GE's Distributed Turbine Control Systems. This STCI board is a compact terminal board designed to handle contact inputs, suitable for either DIN-rail or flat mounting. It accommodates 24 contact inputs, which are energized with nominal voltages of 24, 48, and 125 V DC from an external source. The contact inputs feature noise suppression to safeguard against surges and high-frequency interference. The STCI is compatible with Mark VIe systems.

INSTALLATION:
For installation, the STCI, along with a plastic insulator, attaches to a sheet metal carrier that subsequently mounts on a DIN rail. Alternatively, the STCI and insulator can be mounted on a sheet metal assembly that is then bolted into a cabinet. The contact inputs are wired directly to the terminal block using typically #18 AWG wires. Shields should be terminated on a separate bracket. There are two types of Euro-block terminal blocks available:

- STCIH1 features a permanently mounted terminal block with 52 terminals.
- STCIH2, STCIH4, and STCIH6 have a right-angle header compatible with a variety of commercially available pluggable terminal blocks, also totaling 52 terminals.

OPERATION:
The functionality and onboard signal conditioning of the STCI are identical to those of the TBCI. They are scaled for excitation voltages of 24, 48, and 125 V DC. The input excitation ranges are 16 to 32 V DC, 32 to 64 V DC, and 100 to 145 V DC respectively. The threshold voltage is set at 50% of the excitation voltage. The contact sensing circuits are illustrated in the figure provided. Contact input currents are limited to 2.5 mA on the first 21 circuits and 10 mA on circuits 22 through 24. The 24 V DC supply has a current limit of 0.5 A, enforced by polymer positive temperature coefficient fuses that can be reset. Filters are employed to reduce high-frequency noise and suppress surge inputs near the point of signal entry. Discrete input voltage signals are processed by the I/O processor, passed through optical isolators, converted into digital signals, and then transmitted to the controller.
