FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
The IS200ERRBG1A is a Redundant Backplane designed and manufactured by General Electric for use in the EX2100 Series excitation control systems. This backplane, known as the Exciter Redundant Regulator Backplane (ERRB), plays a critical role in connecting all printed circuit boards housed within it. It offers either 3U or 6U form factors with options for 96-pin or 128-pin DIN connectors to facilitate power distribution to the mounted boards. Each installed board is equipped with a pre-programmed Board ID device that communicates with the ERRB's slot-specific control mechanism, transmitting essential information such as board type, hardware revision, and serial number.

APPLICATION OVERVIEW:
In the EX2100 regulator control system, the ERRB serves as the central hub connecting all internally mounted printed circuit boards. Depending on the application requirements, it provides 3U or 6U form factor options along with 96-pin or 128-pin DIN backplane connectors for power distribution. A dedicated serial bus manages board identification (ID) functions, where each board has an embedded Board ID device programmed with details like barcode serial number, board type, and hardware revision. These devices interface directly with their respective backplane slots' controls.

FEATURES OF IS200ERRBG1A:
The EX2100 digital control system seamlessly integrates with the Mark VI platform, catering to new installations and retrofits across steam, gas, or hydro applications. It leverages GE's proprietary hardware and software integration for a cohesive system solution. The Mark VI acts as a centralized control hub, exchanging data via termination boards and accessible through operator interfaces (HMIs) developed on PC workstations running Windows OS.

The ERRB ensures connectivity among all enclosed boards while also supplying power to external modules via cable connectors. In redundant configurations, it replicates the M2 and C control segments of the regulator, incorporating boards like ACLA, ERIO, EPSM, DSPX, ERDD, EROC, and EISB. Under specific conditions, additional instances of these boards may be present. An integrated fan enhances airflow through the back surface of the ERRB frame, promoting efficient heat dissipation and maintaining optimal operating temperatures for component longevity.

BOARD REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE FOR IS200ERRBG1A:
1. Ensure the exciter housing the ERRB is de-energized before proceeding.
2. Open the exciter control cabinet door and verify that all electrical circuits are powered down prior to handling.
3. Label all cables with corresponding connector names as marked on the boards for easy reconnection later.
4. Disconnect all cables from both the ERRB and attached boards (including fiber-optic links from EISB if applicable, Ethernet to ACLA, and connections to ERIO/EROC).
5. Remove all boards from the ERRB; note that ACLA and its filler plate are joined and should be removed together.
6. Detach the ERRB terminals TB1 and TB2 from the DC link power input.
7. Unscrew the board rack mounting screws and remove the entire assembly from the control module.
8. Install a new ERRB onto the rack, ensuring mounting screws are properly secured.
9. Verify that jumpers on the new ERRB align with those on the removed unit.
10. Reinsert all boards into their respective ERRB slots and secure them with mounting screws. Reconnect all previously disconnected cables to their correct ERRB connectors.
11. Reattach all board-to-board connections (e.g., fiber-optic to EISB, Ethernet to ACLA, and others to ERIO/EROC), as well as the fan power plugs.
12. Reconnect the ERRB terminals TB1 and TB2 to the DC link power input. Close the exciter control cabinet door to complete the replacement process.
