Description:

The IS200TRTDH1D, developed by GE, is a Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) input terminal board designed to accommodate 16 three-wire RTD inputs. These are interfaced via two barrier-style terminal blocks, with integrated noise suppression circuitry to shield against surge and high-frequency disturbances. The TRTD board communicates with I/O processors that digitize the temperature readings for controller processing. Specifically, the TRTDH1D variant is a simplex configuration featuring dual DC connectors for PRTD and standard scan operations, exclusively compatible with the Mark VIe control system's PRTD I/O module, and limited to simplex applications. It pairs with two PRTD packs, aggregating a total of 16 inputs.

Installation Procedure:
Wiring for the 16 RTDs is directly connected to the two terminal blocks on the board, secured by screws and accommodating wires up to #12 AWG. Each block features a shield terminal strip tied to chassis ground, necessitating double-shielded wiring with termination at the end device's shield terminal. In contrast, the TRTDH1B model within a TMR Mark VI setup offers redundant RTD inputs by distributing signals across three VRTD boards in separate racks, maintaining compliance with environmental, resolution, suppression standards, and functionality akin to the TRTDH1C board.

Operational Mechanics:
The TRTD supplies a 10 mA DC excitation current, albeit not continuously, to each RTD, whether grounded or ungrounded. This allows RTD placement up to 300 meters (984 feet) away from the control cabinet, given a maximum cable resistance of 15 ohms. Sampling rates vary between normal (four times per second) and fast mode (25 times per second), with linearization performed by software for 15 RTD types. The system detects out-of-range values, identifying open circuits or shorts, and temporarily removes faulty channels from scanning, automatically reinstating them upon repair within 20 seconds. High-frequency decoupling at signal entry further mitigates noise interference.

Redundancy in I/O processor multiplexing ensures that loss of a single cable or processor doesn’t compromise control database integrity due to coordinated operation by redundant pacemakers.
