 Functional Description

The IS200ESELH3A is an Exciter Selector Board developed by GE, integral to the EX2100 excitation system. These signals are then processed and distributed through six sets of cables to the Exciter Gate Pulse Amplifier (EGPA) boards located in the Power Conversion Cabinet. The ESEL board ensures accurate signal transmission and amplification by the EGPA boards, which in turn manage the gate drives in the exciter system. This coordination is essential for efficiently regulating the generator's electrical output.

Connectors P1 and P2 enable connection to the VME backplane, serving as critical interfaces for integrating the board into the broader system.  Board Replacement Procedure (Offline)

Preparation Steps:

1. De-energize the Exciter: Before beginning any replacement procedure, ensure the exciter is completely de-energized to prevent electrical hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
2. Verify Power Status: Open the control cabinet door and visually inspect the power indicators on both the EPDM and EPSM power supplies. Ensure all indicators are off, including the three LEDs on the ESEL board, confirming the system is powered down and safe to work on.

Removal Process:

1. Loosen Faceplate Screws: Locate the screws at the top and bottom of the faceplate, near the ejector tabs. Loosen these screws without removing them completely, as they are captive in the faceplate.
2. Unseat the Board: Lift the ejector tabs to unseat the board from the rack.
3. Extract the Board: Using both hands, gently pull the board out of the rack.

Insertion Process:

1. Align the Replacement Board: Align the replacement board with the correct slot in the rack. Carefully slide the board into place, ensuring proper alignment with the connectors.
2. Begin Seating the Board: Firmly press the top and bottom of the faceplate simultaneously with your thumbs to start seating the board evenly and securely.
3. Secure the Board: Tighten the screws at the top and bottom of the faceplate evenly, alternating between them to ensure the board is seated squarely and securely in the slot. This step is crucial to prevent misalignment and ensure proper electrical connections.

 Features

Upon receiving six logic-level gate pulse signals from the EMIO board, the ESEL board efficiently processes these signals to drive six sets of cables distributed to the EGPA boards housed in the Power Conversion Cabinet.
