Description:

FUNCTIONAL OVERVIEW:

The IS200ECTBG2A, an Exciter Contact Terminal Board crafted by General Electric for the EX2100 series, forms a crucial part of the excitation control systems. This board, designated as IS200ECTB, facilitates excitation contact inputs and outputs within the EX2100 Excitation Control framework. It is available in two distinct versions tailored for different operational requirements: the ECTBG1, exclusively for redundant controls, and the ECTBG2, designed specifically for simplex controls. Each variant incorporates dual trip outputs that activate customer lockout mechanisms, with oversight provided by the EMIO board. Additionally, four versatile Form-C contact outputs are also governed by the EMIO board. The ECTB board monitors six auxiliary contact inputs, all powered (wetted) at 70 V DC, including the 52G and 86G contact inputs which receive their power supply in the same manner. In redundant configurations, power is sourced from both M1 and M2 controllers.

RELAY CONTROL AND FEEDBACK MECHANISMS:

Trip Relay Operations (Simplex/Redundant):

Within the ECTBG2 setup, driven by the EMIO connected to M1, two trip relays typically serve as customer lockout actuators. These relay drivers draw their 24 V DC power from the M1 controller. Refer to the accompanying illustration of the ECTBG2 Terminal Board, Simplex, for further clarity. Each customer lockout mechanism is engaged by an individual relay employing two parallel normally closed contacts. On the board, these relays are labeled K1M1 and K2M1. For enhanced reliability in redundant control operations alongside the ECTBG1, a 2-out-of-3 contact voting circuit is orchestrated by the three inputs steering three separate relays.

General-Purpose Relay Outputs (Simplex/Redundant):

The ECTBG2 oversees four general-purpose relay outputs, each energized by a 24 V DC supply from the M1 controller. These Form-C type relays feature normally open, normally closed, and common terminals, interfacing with customer-supplied power, typically rated at 125 V DC. Designations K1GP through K4GP identify these relays on the board. To ensure redundancy while operating in tandem with the ECTBG1, a consensus among the three inputs is reached within the relay driver, activating the solitary coil.

CONTACT INPUT UTILIZATION:

Irrespective of whether in simplex or redundant modes, contact inputs fulfill analogous roles. However, in redundant scenarios, they fan out to encompass controllers M1, M2, and C. In contrast, simplex configurations solely engage the M1 controller. The ECTB meticulously monitors six customer-provided auxiliary contact inputs, utilizing a 70 V DC source derived from designated plugs J13M1 and J13M2, equipped with resistor isolation. The wetting voltage range accommodated spans from 63 to 84 V DC. The state of each contact is diligently monitored, with the consequent signal illuminating a red indicator LED and disseminating across controllers M1, M2, and C. Both the 52G and 86G contacts undergo similar monitoring using the 70 V DC excitation, with their statuses indicated by red LEDs and scrutinized by controllers M1, M2, and C.

INSTALLATION DETAILS:

Securing terminal blocks TB1 and TB2 involves merely two screws, enabling straightforward removal when necessary. Connection to the EBKP backplane and subsequent linkage to the EMIO boards (M1, M2, C) are established via three 25-pin sub-D connectors labeled J405, J408, and J415. Power essential for contact wetting, a vital aspect of operation, is channeled through plugs J13M1 and J13M2, originating from the M1 and M2 power supplies respectively.
