Model 8200-209 is a 120 Vac/dc input, a de-energize-to-trip model designed by Woodward to be used in the ProTech 203 Overspeed Protection series. When used in the correct configuration, this system is compatible with different combinations of power sources.
Through three individual magnetic pickups (MPUs), this device samples prime mover speed every 5 ms. The 8200-209 system actuates its relay output based on a two-out-of-three hardware vote, completed with three identical speed-sensing units, each performing its own speed calculation. Although these individual units are connected to provide this hardware vote, the system is designed to continue operations with only two units online.
Some features of the 8200-209 overspeed protection system include:
Remote reset
Built-in self-test
Key lock
Functional status LED indicators
The modular design of model 8200-209 includes a separate front panel for each of the three speed-sensing units. This panel has a touchpad, a two-line LCD, and a set of LED indicators. All three units have their own power supply but are in the same key-locked enclosure to prevent unauthorized access to the system’s programming.
